In a certain way modern day technology can be very addicting. The internet and cell phones have simply become ways and aspects of life. Everyone has a cell phone and internet but does that mean they are addicting? No but if someone were to be playing a game for three days then it is. Any extended excessive use that does not help the person in their job or life is a bad addiction. Technology is usually helpful but too much of it can take away the quality from someone's life.

The obsession of video games has never been an obssesion of mine, but having multiple friends and relatives who could play video games 24/7, i would have to agree with the fact that recent technology has something addicting in it. Many uses of modern technologies such as cell phones, the internet, and ecetera is very helpful, but theres a fine line between the purpose of it and the attachment. Unfortunetly the generation Y has no idea how to survive without these modern technologies, so its almsot inevitable that people learn how to survive with them, not without.

Michael Craig Miller of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center said, "Computers are such an integral part of our life that in a certain sense we're all addicted to the technology, but we're 'addicted' in the same way that we're 'addicted' to automobiles."(http://edition.cnn.com/2007/TECH/ptech/07/01/la.tech.addictions/index.html)
This statement greatly reflects how technology can be seen as an addiction. Technology can definitely be addicting. For our generation, technology has become so common place that we in a sense "can't live without it."

Technology can be very addicting. It is almost like playing video games is a persons life now a days. from experience because my family members play video games and are on the computer all the time it as become cear that theese things can have a negative impact on people. The people use these things as a way of life and they get addicted to these things without even knowing it.

I would have to admit that I am addicted to technology. Since the invention (or discovery) of the internet, cellphones, e-mail, video games, etc, life is easier and more 'fun', so to speak. It is an advantage that people are communicating faster and easier, but it is a disadvantage that people have no other time and make technology their 'life.' However, today, it is difficult to exclude technology from everyday life, and is more of a habit than a choice of using it.

Technology can certainly be addictive, but only if a person allows the technology (such as video games, cell phones, and internet gaming) to infiltrate every aspect of their daily activities. If a person constantly comes home and immediately begins playing on their console or PC, then a habit will definitely form after repeated use. People need to learn that sitting in front of a TV for hours and playing games is unhealthy for you, as shown by the Beijing man who died recently from a gaming binge. There are stages of addiction, though. For instance, when I get home in the afternoon, I spend almost all of my free time on the internet. It's definitely an addiction, but I wouldn't sit on the computer for continuous hours. I at least know when to take a break.

Technology is certainly addictive. It stimulates the mind from boredom, and recreates it when something better is out. People say with technology, life has been so much easier, so much more relaxed, but couldn't America have gotten lazier because of the rise of technology? Technology has became an essential essence in the American life (if we can call it a life). I admit I have played games for nearly 8 hours straight, online on the computer for 12, and i also admit that I was addicted to it. It seems now a days friendship is grown stronger by being included in someone's "top eight" and so on. The new innovation of technology has helped the community of this nation, but many people take advantage of this, and became clearly addicted.

I think that technology can be very addicting. Many people spend most of their time on the Internet or talking on cell phones. All these advances in technology are very helpful. Our lives revolve around them and I highly doubt that we can live without technology. If it is used for an extended period of time, then you surely are addicted. Being addicted to any form of technology is not a good thing.

I believe that technology plays a big role in the addiction behavior of different people. Technology such as the internet, cellphones and videogames are very addictive. We get addicted to things like this because it stimulates the mind and gives us something to do. I have to say, I was once addicted to myspace. I wasn't on there 24/7, but once I'd get on there, it was hard to log off because you're writing messages, getting comments, and just chatting with friends. Being addicted to technology is actually bad, and overloading on tech, could cause serious health issues, such as the man who died in Beijing. Benefits of technology could be keeping in touch with family and friends, and getting the latest new/information. Detriments that can come along with technology are health issues, and not having a life, because you're always on the computer or phone.
