BULLETIN: Time Tracks Interview Project Research Assignment

TIME TRACKS INTERVIEW PROJECT RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT
Journalism I/KNIGHT

MATERIALS: Steno pad, access to computer and internet, any number of physical sources, pencil, pen, and highlighter

OBJECTIVE: You should be able to glean specific, relevant and useful information about your interview subject using your researching, notetaking, and independent study skills.

TASK: Use the provided time to conduct your research for your assigned Time Tracks Interview subject. Use the internet (accurate sources ONLY), resource books (encyclopedias, research books, etc) to find information about your interview subject. Your information should be useful in helping the initial framing of your interview.

During the activity you MUST do the following:

1. Take out the necessary materials FIRST.
2. Show some evidence of researching, notetaking, as well as active listening/speaking/questioning skills.
3. Collect notes on the information/data that your uncover. BE SPECIFIC. ASK FOR CLARIFICATION!!!!
4. Print, copy, or rewrite any information that will aid you in the completion of your project.

At the end of the activity I will expect that a written ‘report’ be produced and prepared for either submission or discussion. This report should be labeled with the following ALL CAPS, underlined heading: TIME TRACKS INTERVIEW PROJECT RESEARCH ASSIGNMENT

The report should then include the following bulleted headings:

• Interviewer (this is you)
• Interview Subject (this is the person you are interviewing)
• Interview Subject’s Significance (what specific thing did this person do to warrant an interview; this needs to be S-P-E-C-I-F-I-C!!!)
• Interview ‘Date’ (when is the interview taking place)
• Interview Topic (this needs to be a focused, specific, and relevant topic)
• Ice Breaker Questions (only give me 5; please number them)

This report should be produced on a sheet of blank paper so that we can exchange and review (and possibly submit). It must be produced in the manner that I have outlined…if you don’t understand (or get it) PLEASE ASK!!!
