I’ve heard of the bombing, but I never really paid attention to the specifics of the incident. The thought of someone killing so many people and then describing it as a “legit tactic in a war against what he considered an out-of-control federal government” is sickening. 168 people died that day, people who were just doing what they usually did every single day. These people’s families and friends lost someone close to them for no reason other than two men acting against the government.

The timeline and pictures on this page show how a whole world came together to help the exposed city. The timeline shows how it affected everyone and how it continued to affect people long after it ended. The pictures not only show the damage of this incident, but also show groups of random individuals grouping together in order to unite and become a way to help those in need.

The chairs and ‘survivor tree’ are simply ways to represent the lost, but no stone/bronze made chair or tree coming out of the ground could come close to remembering these people for who they were and what they did. The two men who made this plan and then executed it deserve the punishments they received. Timothy McVeigh’s execution in 2001 was a direct result of the decisions he made and the lives he took. Terry Nichol’s sentence of life in prison was also a result of the plan he created and then got his partner to follow through with. Although Nichol’s did not actually set off the bomb, he made the plan and was as much responsible as McVeigh was.
