HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS (8/22/14)

1. Register in the correct online course on www.turnitin.com and www.schoology.com DUE NOW

2. Acquire materials on course materials list. DUE 8/26

4. Read and outline Chapter 1 (The History of American Media); use the outline format guide and upload it to www.turnitin.com when completed. A digital copy of the Journalism Today textbook can be found in the Materials section of the Schoology Master Class. Download this document to your computer, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Read the chapter and complete the assignment per the instructions. DUE 8/26 (ICC: 50 points/TIINC: 25 points)

5.  Obtain TWO recent news articles. These articles must be recent (i.e. no older than 3 days). It must be clipped...PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE CLASS; ARTICLES NOT LABELED OR POSTED NEATLY IN THE JOURNAL WILL RECEIVE A -5 PENALTY. NO OPINION PIECES OR MAGAZINE ARTICLES.

1. Review Chapter 1 topics/concepts. Read the outline, supplemental notes, and create study note cards. LEARN THE MATERIAL...DON'T MEMORIZE IT.*

*NOTE: Please review your chapter notes periodically. We are never 'done' with the chapter topics/concepts.

2. Study chapter vocabulary. In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [JV1]

3. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, steno pads, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)
