TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS*

 I. Organize your notebook. SEE NOTEBOOK STRUCTURE CHART (on blog). AS INDICATED IN CLASS THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY #1! 

II. Obtain ONE recent news article. This article must be recent (i.e. no older than 3 days). It must be clipped...PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE CLASS; ARTICLES NOT LABELED OR POSTED NEATLY WILL RECEIVE A -2 PENALTY. NO OPINION PIECES OR MAGAZINE ARTICLES.

III. Familiarize yourself with this week's current events; a GRADED Current Events Quiz (CEQ) will be administered SOON. Use the blog site as a central hub for news and information!  CEQ #36 is 5/24/13...PLEASE REVIEW!

IV. Prepare for Lead Writing exercises. Review the unit notes on lead styles and rules. Practice deconstructing leads at home. 

V. Read and outline Chapter 11 (Features Stories). Go to Evernote on Friday and download a copy of the format guide sheet. DUE 5/29/13 (ICC/TIINC)


VI. Please review your notes (outline and unit lesson) for Chapters 6, 7, and 8; be prepare for informal assessments and discussions on the concepts and terms.

DAILY ASSIGNMENTS*

 I. Review Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8  topics/concepts. Read the outline, supplemental notes, and create study note cards. LEARN THE MATERIAL...DON'T MEMORIZE IT.*

*NOTE: Please review your chapter notes periodically. We are never 'done' with the chapter topics/concepts.

II. Study chapter vocabulary. In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [JV1]

III. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, steno pads, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

IV. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.

1. This will be a summative assessment for Chapters 6, 7, 8, and 11
2. The assessment will be split in half; one part will be given on 5/30, the other will be given on 5/31.
3. This assessment will be mostly multiple choice.
4. The assessment will be averaged into your 4th Quarter Grade...YOU NEED TO REVIEW.
