 I. Organize your notebook. SEE NOTEBOOK STRUCTURE CHART (on blog). AS INDICATED IN CLASS THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY #1! 

II. Read the Course Curriculum Guide and Course Orientation Notes (Rules and Policies) handouts; review the material and prepare for informal assessments to be given throughout this quarter.

III. Review the policies and rules for this course...informal assessments (i.e. quizzes) are possible at any moment.

IV.
Obtain one (1) recent news article. This article must be recent (i.e. no older than 3 days). It must be clipped...PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE CLASS; ARTICLES NOT LABELED OR POSTED NEATLY WILL RECEIVE A -2 PENALTY. NO OPINION PIECES OR MAGAZINE ARTICLES.

VI. Review your Chapter 2 notes; analyze the topics, concepts, and terminology. Read and review the handouts on Cooke, Blair, Kelley, and News of the World

VII. Complete the Rights and Responsibilities of Journalists handout; follow the guidelines discussed in class. DUE 10/12/11

VIII. Obtain parental signature on the slip for 'Shattered Glass' DUE 10/12/11

IX. Read and annotate the Stephen Glass related articles. Highlight information that will further your understanding of the case.

II. Study chapter vocabulary. In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [JV1]

III. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, steno pads, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

IV. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
