HOMEWORK (3/12/12)

TONIGHT'S ASSIGNMENTS* 

*NOTE: The following assignments should be completed prior to the next class meeting or by the posted due date. Please read all standards and directions when completing.
 

 I. Organize your notebook. SEE NOTEBOOK STRUCTURE CHART (on blog). AS INDICATED IN CLASS THIS SHOULD BE PRIORITY #1! 

II.Obtain ONE recent news article. This article must be recent (i.e. no older than 3 days). It must be clipped...PLEASE DO THIS BEFORE CLASS; ARTICLES NOT LABELED OR POSTED NEATLY WILL RECEIVE A -2 PENALTY. NO OPINION PIECES OR MAGAZINE ARTICLES.

1. ARTICLE TYPE: GENERAL INTEREST
2. ARTICLE BEAT ASSIGNMENTS (for Week #28): as discussed in class
3. ARTICLE NEWS ELEMENT: Label each article with the elements of news represented in the article...there should be more elements than TIMELINESS.
4. DATE RANGES: Article #1 (3/7/12 to 3/9/12), Article #2 (3/10/12 to 3/12/12), Article #3 (3/11/12 to 3/13/12)
5. SOURCE: Student choice (Source and Date of Publishing MUST be included on page)

III. Familiarize yourself with last week's current events; a GRADED Current Events Quiz (CEQ) will be administered SOON. Use the blog site as a central hub for news and information!

VI. Prepare for the continuation of the Chapter 6 Unit Lesson discussion. BRING YOUR TEXT BOOK!!! Review the previously discussed concepts found in Chapter 6.


VII. Work on the Major Interview Project; work on any tasks assigned in class. Begin gathering research information about your interview subject. This research information will be checked this week along with the pre-interview planning material.


VIII. Begin gathering research information about your Times Track Interview Project Subject (see post). This research information will be checked along with the pre-interview planning material.


IX. Complete the writing (or revising) of leads assigned in class.

 I. Review Chapter 6 topics/concepts. Read the outline, supplemental notes, and create study note cards. LEARN THE MATERIAL...DON'T MEMORIZE IT.*

*NOTE: Please review your chapter notes periodically. We are never 'done' with the chapter topics/concepts.

II. Study chapter vocabulary. In addition, students should prepare to work on additional in-class vocabulary assignments by reviewing words nightly. For test/quiz dates see calendar in class or upcoming dates post. To prepare for the in-class study and tests/quizzes, students are encouraged to create 3x5 study cards. STANDARD [JV1]

III. Bring Materials/Supplies to class; this includes textbooks, steno pads, paper, pens, notebooks, writing journals, etc. (NO EXCEPTIONS)

IV. You should conduct a nightly/daily review of the course orientation notes. You will be expected to show adequate mastery and knowledge of all course policies and procedures.
